Dr. D. Gary Brown

Dr. D. Gary Brown is a certified industrial hygienist (CIH) who is currently an Associate Professor at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) in the Department of Environmental Health Science (EHS). He is on the staff of the OSHA Training Institute located at EKU.

Dr. Brown is a Past President of the Association of Environmental Health Academic Programs (AEHAP). Currently, he is the AEHAP national mentor coordinator for higher education institutions interested in developing or accrediting an EHS program.

Dr. Brown has over 20 years professional experience in the environmental, industrial hygiene (IH) and safety arenas including; providing curriculum development and training; supervision and direction of personnel in developing programming; assisting clients in regulatory arenas to achieve and maintain compliance to applicable standards, as well as minimizing liability; providing informal representation during EPA and OSHA inspections and hearings; performing environmental/safety audits; developing written compliance programs; performing industrial hygiene surveys; developing, instituting, managing and evaluating behavior-based safety systems; assist clients in the minimization and disposal of non-hazardous and hazardous waste; assisting clients in improvement of their processes; assisting clients in reduction of air emissions; and developing environmental permits and completing regulatory submissions.

He is extremely interested in the promotion of the field of EHS/Occupational Health Science (OHS)/IH and increasing the number of EHS/OHS/IH majors nationally and internationally.
