Graeme Nicol, MA MBA

Graeme Nicol is a highly experienced and innovative manager whose career has notably specialised in the management of wide ranging activities in the SME sector. After graduating with a degree in Pure Mathematics from Aberdeen University, he entered the commercial world with Goodyear where he undertook High Performance Management Training and developed new training methods adopted by the company worldwide. Mr. Nicol continued to focus on this by joining a specialist Government Training organisation where he specialised in the SME sector. He moved then to become the Managing Director of a small textile company developing markets, products and brands. In time he was invited to join an emerging company offering specialist medical service. Mr. Nicol became Managing Director of this company and developed it to become an international operator. He moved to become UK Director of Consulting and Management Services for a niche international consulting company where he lead a Team which developed a range of interventions designed to secure the commercial benefits from knowledge and expertise resident in Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and Public Scientific Research Establishments (PSREs). This work frequently took the form of developing business growth environments e.g. Science Parks, Business Incubators etc and their associated and relevant support mechanisms. His current work is as an independent consultant working mainly in the HEI environment working on commercialization issues and organizational development which allows him to bring a high level of enthusiasm and drive to all activities he commits to and look to be involved in those that will have long term value and impact. He also sits on an advisory committee of a UK Research Council.
