Dr. Owen James

Dr. Owen B. O’L. James, M.B. (Edin)

Dr. James has spent several years at the University of the West Indies/University Hospital of the West Indies in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine as Lecturer/Consultant Microbiologist. He has assisted in curriculum development (UWI Medical Faculty e.g. Family Medicine, Occupational Health courses at UTECH and UWI) and served as Honorary Lecturer in Occupational Health and Safety to MPH and OESH students at UWI.

Dr. James has authored several publications and presentations on topics in Microbiology, Public Health, Ethics, Family Medicine and Occupational Medicine, other aspects of medicine and science to diverse groups including Anaesthetists, Radiographers, Nurses, Surgeons, Physiotherapists, Public Health Inspectors, Medical Laboratory Technologists, Jamaica Association of Safety Professionals, Bauxite safety Council, service clubs and civic organizations.

He is the Occupational Health Consultant at West Indies Alumina Company (Windalco) and previously worked as their Medical Director for just under 20 years.
