RATIONALE: To encourage students to develop quality leadership skills that will enhance their social development and reinforce positive attitudes towards service.

OBJECTIVES
At the end o f this course students should be able to:

1. Demonstrate their leadership skills in how they plan to conduct a meeting
2. Plan and execute a community project
3. Exhibit self-esteem, self worth and self confidence in social interaction
4. Communicate more effectively in public speaking
5. Demonstrate their ability to work as part of a team
6. Apply the procedures of process improvement techniques

Community Service

Each group is required to identify and implement a community project, which must be sustainable and result in demonstrable benefits to the community.

METHODS OF ASSESSMENT

1. Portfolio (record of skills and information acquired in the workshops) 50%
2. Project report (Approximately 20 pages) 20%
3. Assessment of Project 30%

NB:
• The student must register at the beginning of the Semester as a candidate for credits.
• Students must pass all sections of the course to be awarded the three credits.
• Students must attend all the seminars/workshops
