1. The Jamaican Breast Disease Study

Principal Investigator: SE Shirley, Dept of Pathology UWI

Aim: The documentation of the clinico-pathologic features of benign and malignant breast disease in Jamaica.

2. An analysis of medicolegal (coroner's) autopsies at the University Hospital of the West Indies

Co-Investigators: CT Escoffery, SE Shirley, Dept of Pathology UWI

Aims: The major goals of this project are to document the major and sub-categories of the cause of death in medicolegal autopsy cases at the UHWI and to determine the characteristics of the decedent population involved.

3. The Pathology of Breast Cancer in Jamaica: the National Public Health Laboratory Study

Aim: The documentation of the spectrum of pathologic features of breast cancer in Jamaican patients

Aim: To document the clinico-pathologic features of male breast cancer in Jamaica

5. Non-gynaecologic exfoliative cytology at UWI

Principal Investigator: SE Shirley, Dept of Pathology UWI

Co-Investigators: CT Escoffery, LA Sargeant*, M Sutherland, J Gray, KK Hay. Dept of Pathology, UWI & East Cambridgeshire and FPCT, UK*

Aim: To document the distribution of cytologic diagnoses by specimen type in non-gynaecologic exfoliative specimens (NGES) at UWI and to determine relevant indices of validity based on histologic follow-up.
