The Federal Archives Centre was officially opened by the Prime Minister of
Barbados, the Right Honourable Owen S. Arthur on 25 October 2004. The
mission of the Centre is to acquire, preserve and make available the records
of the West Indies Federation (1958-1962).

The Centre will provide primary sources of information on the Federal
Government and its demise. It is planned that the Centre will also serve as
the repository of archival collections from Caribbean integration movements
and associations, as well as Caribbean professional and academic groupings.
The Federal Archives and all other records will be stored, preserved,
described and made accessible to users in compliance with
international archival standards and practices.

The records in the Federal Archives Centre will be open for consultation from
November 2005, by appointment only, during the following hours:

10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Mondays - Fridays
