The UWI Records Centres were established
to serve as temporary facilities for the semi-active and closed
records of The University of the West Indies.
There are three UWI Records Centres, one on each campus, each serves
the campus community including all faculties and departments.
The Mona campus records centre, currently housed in two 40 foot
trailers, is a high-density, low-cost storage area, equipped with
a system for speedy retrieval and consultation of records. It currently
has a holding capacity of approximately 3,000 linear feet of records;
and is designed to hold records in all media form and seek to satisfy
international standards for records centres.
