Monday, April 18, 2016
The University of the West Indies won their first match in the second round of the Hockey competition yesterday. They played Monroe College Old Boys Club, where UWI emerged winners in a 3-2 victory. Oshane Hansley, midfielder in the Monroe team said the match was slow due to fitness and this is one of the areas that the team needs to work on. “We were slow into tackling, if we get that right we should improve,” Hansley said. UWI manager, Patrice Clarke said that the UWI is improving with every game they play. She said that most of the players there have experience, but some of them is currently injured and this impeded their game. “The players need to work on their finishing, however it was not a bad game today.” UWI won first match in second round of Hockey competition.
