UWI Coaches Called to National Duty

The University of the West Indies Sports Department is proud to announce that five coaches were selected by various Jamaican sporting associations to lead their national teams to regional and international competitions.

Former West Indies Player and Jamaican Captain, now UWI’s cricket Coach, Robert Samuels was named, by the Jamaica Cricket Association, Head Coach of the Jamaica U-19 Cricket team to participate in the TLC cricket Competition in Guyana.

Veteran Track & Field Coach and UWI’s T&F Head Coach, Fitz Coleman was selected by the JAAA as the Technical Director for the Jamaica Team to the World Track & Field Championships in Daegu, South Korea.

UWI’s Gym Instructor, Masseur Therapist and Jump Coach, Kerri Lee Ricketts was named assistant Coach for the Jamaica team to the Pan-Am Junior Track & Field Championships held in Miramar Florida from July 22-24, 2011.

UWI’s Volleyball coach, Oneil Ebanks, was selected Head Coach of the Jamaica U-19 Volleyball Team to the Caribbean Volleyball Championships scheduled for August 2011. 

UWI’s Netball Coach and Sports Coordinator, Conrad Parks, was named Coach for the National U-13 Netball Team.

The University congratulates all coaches for their successes and wishes them the best in their endeavours.
