General Safety Tips!

  1. Carry as little cash, and wear as little jewelry as possible when walking alone at night.
  2. Travel in groups when using an ABM at nights.
  3. Be alert and cautious at nights of anyone lingering around or acting suspiciously.
  4. When walking alone have some sort of deterrent device ready for use such as:
    - Pepper spray
    - Mace
    - A personal alarm
  5. Keep, cash and jewelry in a locked drawer, closet or cabinet in your room.
  6. Don’t accept rides, or engage in conversations with strangers at night.
  7. Use the Campus Escort Service or Campus Alone Service provided by the Campus Security Services when studying or meeting in
    secluded areas late at nights.
  8. When studying or using the library late, always ensure that you have both male and female friends to walk you to your Hall of Residence.
  9. Keep the Campus Security Service telephone numbers handy. They are 935-8748/9 or extension 2748 or 2749 from any internal telephone.
