Michael Boyne

Michael Boyne is a Senior Lecturer in Endocrinology at the Tropical Medicine Research Institute, University of the West Indies and an Honorary Consultant at the University Hospital of the West Indies.          

After receiving his medical degree (MB.BS) from the University of the West Indies he went on to complete residency in Internal Medicine and then a 3-year fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and Edinburgh.

Dr. Boyne has authored or co-authored over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters. His research interests include the roles of early life factors, adipokines (fat tissue-secreted proteins), and cortisol in the development of the metabolic syndrome. He is a member of several associations including the Endocrine Society, DOHAD (Developmental Origins of Health and Disease), Association of Consultant Physicians of Jamaica and the Caribbean Endocrine Association.
