MSE and ZTE signs MOU

The Mona School of Engineering, University of the West Indies, Mona and Chinese multinational telecommunications company, ZTE signs MOU.

ZTE HK Telecommunication Jamaica Limited (ZTE) and The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona School of Engineering signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on January 22, 2018.  The MOU will serve as a framework for specific collaborative initiatives to facilitate internship and skill development opportunities for students in the Mona School of Engineering and the Faculty of Science and Technology pursuing a BSc in Electronics and Computer Systems Engineering, or a BSc with a Computer Science or Telecommunication Major.  ZTE aims to train these students via the internship program so that upon graduation they will be equipped with practical experience and skills in the relevant fields, which will greatly strengthen the competitiveness of UWI graduates in the ICT industry.  This cooperation between UWI and ZTE will enhance the development of more talents needed for the growth of the ICT sector in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
