The New Fortress Energy Scholarship

Overview

Number of Awards: Five (4) per year

Value: USD $2,500.00

Maximum Tenure: Three (3) years

Eligibility: The award is available to  full time registered students who are: 

  • under 25 years of age
  • pursuing an undegraduate degree in any faculty (preferably in Engineering)
  • from the parishes of St. Catherine, Clarendon, Kingston or St. James (specifically Montego Bay). 

Criteria: The award will be based on: 

  • Outstanding academic record (GPA of 3.0 or above for students already enrolled in an undergraduate programme at UWI)
  • Demonstrable financial need
  • Demonstrable community involvement and leadership qualities

Method of Selection: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a Committee of evaluators jointly selected by the UWI the Donor. 

Special Requirements: Application shall be accompanied by the following documents:

  • UWI application and acceptance letters;
  • CAPE & CXC scores;
  • high school transcript or UWI transcript (in the case of 2nd or 3rd year applicants)
  • one page essay on the applicant's educational goals;
  • two character reference letters;
  • certified copy of birth certificate or registration certificate.

Please Note: The successful candidate shall not be the holder or recipient of any other scholarship covering tuition costs
