International Joint Conference of the Society for Economic Botany (SEB) and International Society of Ethnobiology (ISE)

You are invited to participate in the upcoming international joint conference of the Society for Economic Botany (SEB) and International Society of Ethnobiology (ISE) to be hosted by The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus at the Faculty of Medical Sciences. The conference is scheduled for May 29 - June 2, 2022.

The conference will explore the relationships between people and plants in the context of eight of the seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health & Well-being, Gender, Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life on Land, Peace Justice and Strong Institutions.

The UWI students and staff are invited to submit abstracts. The deadline for submission is May 6, 2022.

FEES FOR THE UWI AND LOCAL DELEGATES ( For Face To Face Attendance)

Academics and Professionals

  • Option A: US$150 - Covers access to opening ceremony and conference sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (meals included).  Please note that access to field trips, workshops, and the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony attracts an additional cost.
  • Option B: US$50 per day:  Includes sessions and meal available on the selected day.  Participants choosing this registration option will not have access to the opening ceremony. Please note that access to  field trips, workshops, and the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony attracts an additional cost.

Students (Registered UWI students and those registered at any Jamaican Tertiary Institution)

  • Option A: US$90: Covers access to opening ceremony and conference sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (meals included).  Please note that access to field trips, workshops, and the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony attracts an additional cost.
  • Option B: US$25 per day: Includes sessions and meal available on the selected day.  Participants choosing this registration option will not have access to the opening ceremony. Please note that access to  field trips, workshops, and the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony attracts an additional cost.

The UWI Academics and post-graduate research students have the option to utilize their Study and Travel/Research & Publication Grant to fund their registration fees.
