New Programme- The Bachelor of Arts in History and International Relations

You asked for it and we have delivered! Introducing, our newest undergraduate programme, the BA History and International Relations. Rolling out in September 2021, make history (literally) with us, by applying online to become a member of the first batch of students to undertake this unique, multi-disciplinary and career-oriented cross-faculty Major. We have brought together these complementary disciplines so you can get the most out of your university experience and position yourself  for success in the job market. The choice is yours, but the time to apply is now!

The Bachelor of Arts in History and International Relations is a multidisciplinary programme designed o train graduates capable of understanding the significance of the past in making sense of today’s complex, ever-changing globalised world. The programme combines courses from the Department of History and Archaeology, the Department of Government and the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, placing emphasis on History and International Relations and stressing the complementarity of the two disciplines. This degree’s joint structure will help you to learn a second language, develop an understanding of the important connection between the past and present, while applying historical knowledge to the dynamics of contemporary relations in the international arena. The programme emphasizes the learning of transferable skills, such as research and communication skills from History and a capacity for theoretical analysis from International Relations. This integrated multidisciplinary programme will provide you with a solid foundation for a wide range of careers in today’s dynamic job market as well as the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies.

Entry Requirements

Three Years Full-Time

Five CSEC subjects (General Proficiency Grades I-III) and/or GCE O'Level / BGCSE subjects (Grades A-C) including English Language AND two double Units CAPE subjects or 2 GCE A-Level subjects.Individuals without a foreign language pass, at least at CXC CSEC, will be required to take a least one of the basic foreign languages courses.

Five Years Part-Time

Five CSEC subjects (General Proficiency Grades I-III) and/or GCE O’Level/BGCSE subjects (Grades A-C) including English Language. Strongly recommended: A Foreign Language. Individuals without a foreign language pass, at least at CXC CSEC, will be required to take a least one of the basic foreign languages courses.
