On June 20, 2023, The UWI Mona Library in collaboration with The Office of Graduate Studies and Research will host The UWI 75th Anniversay Finals of the prestigious Three Minute Thesis 3MT® Competition. This year will mark the third annual staging of the competion by The Mona Library. The inaugural event was launched in 2021 and particpation in the competition was extended to other UWI campuses in 2022. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance. The competition challenges students to consolidate their ideas and research discoveries, and explain them concisely and effectively in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
This final round of the competition will see campus winners fron Mona, Cave Hill and St. Augustine face off to claim the 3MT Throphy and the top prizes. Mona is hoping to bring the trophy back home for 2023, as St. Augustine took the top prize in 2022.
