My teaching interests include African literature and film, genre, adaptation, and world cinema. I also teach videographic methods of writing as a means of exploring the uses and meaning of audiovisual materials. My research deals with media urbanism, or screen media produced in or about cities of the Global South. I focus on West African media industries, in particular, and the film, video, television, and small screen content they produce. My work has appeared in The Journal of African Cinemas, African Studies Review, Calalloo, Research in African Literatures, and has received the generous support of the West African Research Association Postdoctoral Fellowship (2018), as well as the Fulbright Program (2012-13).
