Miss Brown is a graduate of the department who specializes in Drama, Shakespeare and Life Writing. In 2018, she was an Honoured Nominee in the UWI/ Guardian Life Premium Teaching Award. This recognition capped years of solid commitment to effective and dynamic teaching across the three levels of undergraduate courses. Her excellent records of preparation, effective student-centered delivery and documentation of reflective practice informed her contributions to both faculty and department. Another highlight of her career was her participation in the British Council’s Caribbean documentary celebrating William Shakespeare’s Quadricentennial entitled: Shakespeare in the Caribbean| The Caribbean in Shakespeare. The film was launched in the Faculty of Humanities in March 2018 and brought attention to the Department’s focus on both film and literature. In subsequent years, she has incorporated the documentary as a text in the course Introduction to Shakespeare which is done by all Literatures in English Majors. The documentary provides a recognizable Caribbean context for the study of Shakespeare and promotes greater student involvement in exploring relevant themes across texts and historical contexts.
Miss Brown is currently working on her MPhil degree.
