“Developing Critical Thinkers: For Today’s Global Society” is the title of the UWI/ Guardian Life Premium Open Lecture set for Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 6 pm at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre. The Lecture will be delivered by Dr. Maryellen Weimer, Distinguished Professor at Penn State University.
 
Her presentation is expected to expose educators to novel ways to stimulate the minds of their students to be critical thinkers in a competitive global market. The lecture targets especially lecturers, principals, teachers, human resource managers and decision makers in the corporate world to highlight learner centered teaching which can be applied in all levels of the learning process.
 
The lecture is a biennial event which alternates with the Premium Teaching Award and is designed to reflect 21st century trends in teaching and learning and enhance the quality of teaching at UWI.
