The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus through the Department of Government and the Centre for Leadership and Governance will host a seminar entitled, ‘The Role of Development Banks in Financing Integration’. Ambassador Lorne McDonnough, the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) will deliver the main address on this occasion. The seminar is slated for Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Executive Lecture Theatre (Mona School of Business and Management, North), UWI Mona.

The presentation will discuss why reducing the inequalities across countries within the CSME is critical to its success. The CARICOM Development Fund is the treaty based institution with the specific mandate to support disadvantaged countries, regions and sectors. The discussion will centre on the role of the CDF, its key interventions thus far and results. The seminar will also look at the role of development banks in facilitating the allocation of credit within the less developed countries, to those projects which are deemed beneficial to national development.

The university community and the public are invited.
