The UWI School of Nursing will be hosting the 23rd Nursing and Midwifery Research Conference and 24th Mary J. Seivwright Day entitled “Evidence-based practice: Promoting excellence in patient care”. Day 1 will focus on the Poster presentations related to the title of the conference and the keynote speaker will make a presentation as well. Day 2 will constitute a Mary J Seivwright lecture and the launch of the schools online open access journal – Caribbean Journal of Nursing (CJN).

Conference Objectives

1. Explore the evidence on quality patient care outcomes and evidence based practice (EBP)
2. Examine barriers to access, appraisal and utilization of research to promote quality patient care
3. Enable dialogue among nurses, researchers, nurse educators, clinical leaders, health policy makers and student nurses on the development of evidence based practice
4. Examine facilitators and barriers to nurses engagement in research
