Jan 22 2013 - 4:00pm - 5:30pm

The UWI, Mona will host a seminar on the archival development in the Caribbean region with emphasis on the role of the University of the West Indies. The event is set for Tuesday January 22, 2012 at 4 pm at the University Archives, UWI Regional Headquarters Building, Mona.

Professor Emeritus Sir Roy Augier will be recognized on this occasion for his contribution to archival development over the past half century. Presentations will be made by Sharon Alexander-Gooding, Senior Assistant Registrar, (Archives & Records), Cave Hill, UWI and Stanley Griffin, Assistant Archivist, University Archives, UWI.

The presentation is part of the activities organized by the University Archives to mark its establishment, in its permanent home. This achievement is an appropriate occasion to reflect on the University’s involvement, chiefly through the Department of History, in the archives of the region dating back to 1948, and the role it should continue to play.

Attendees can also take the opportunity to tour the University Archives and to visit the University Museum.  The university community is invited to attend this seminar.
