BACKGROUND
Jamaicans use medicinal plants to treat a variety of conditions, however not many persons are aware that there may be adverse reactions if they are also taking other kinds of medication. The Natural Products Institute has compiled a handbook which provides a practical guide to avoid adverse drug reactions. The publication has approximately 70 potential interactions by 30 herbs and foods commonly used in Jamaica and should be of interest to physicians, pharmacists, other healthcare professionals and patients alike.
