Public Lecture by The Director General of the IAEA: "The Role of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Nuclear Technology and Sustainable Development"

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), His Excellency Yukiya Amano will make an official visit to Jamaica on Monday, April 4, 2016. As part of the visit, Mr. Amano will be a special guest on The UWI, Mona Campus where he will tour the International Centre for Environmental and Nuclear Sciences (ICENS) meet with students who are pursuing the Medical Physics degree programme offered by the Department of Physics, and pay a courtesy call on Mona Campus Principal, Prof Archibald McDonald. 

The Director General will  deliver a public lecture entitled "The Role of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Nuclear Technology and Sustainable Development", at the Undercroft of the Senate Building, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Interested persons are invited to attend.

The IAEA, is an intergovernmental organization, and is the global centre for cooperation in nuclear applications, energy, science and technology. Mr. Amano served as Chair of the Agency’s Board of Governors and was previously Japan’s Resident Representative to the Agency from 2005 until his election as Director General in 2009. He has extensive experience in disarmament and non-proliferation diplomacy, as well as nuclear energy issues.
