Event Date:
Nov 28 2017 - 9:00am - Nov 29 2017 - 4:00pm

Theme: Understanding FinTech, Ransomware and Cyber Threats to Governance”

The Mona ICT Policy Centre (MICT) in the Caribbean School of Media and Communication (CARIMAC), UWI in association with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the global Internet Society (ISOC) and the High Commission of Canada in Jamaica.

DETAILS:

Recent large-scale cyber attacks such as WannaCry, the hack of Equifax and of the US Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) computer system, among others, all signal a growing

trend in destructive threats to businesses, governments and individuals. Today’s cyber

threats spread fast, morph quickly and deliver potentially lethal damage. Now more than

ever, cyber security professionals must maintain an up-to-theminute understanding of the

continuously evolving threat environment.

The 2017 Cyber Security Conference will therefore bring together national, regional and

international partners to discuss the evolution of worrying cybersecurity trends that have

aggravated the threat environment. It will also provide information to stakeholders on how to

develop intelligent security ecosystems to protect from cyber threats, and to support

corporate and government ICT usage in an era of rapidly expanding connectivity.

The Conference will feature a wide range of local and international speakers during four panel

sessions and one workshop across the two days.
