The 4th Cassidy LePage Distinguished Lecture

The Department of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy and the Jamaican Language Unit invites you to the 4th Cassidy LePage Distinguished Lecture to be held on November 9, 2018 at 5:00 PM. Our guest is the famed Professor John McWhorter who teaches linguistics, philosophy and music history at Columbia University. He is the author of twenty books including The Power of Babel; Words on the Move; Talking Back, Talking Black; The Missing Spanish Creoles; and The Creole Debate, hosts Slate’s language podcast Lexicon Valley and writes for the Atlantic.

 

It promises to be an interesting lecture titled: “Should the debates about the origins of creoles matter?”
