UWI QUALITY EDUCATION FORUM (ISSUE # 25)
 
THEME: NAVIGATING HIGHER EDUCATION IN A PANDEMIC: TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT IN THE TIME OF COVID-19 AND BEYOND.
The UWI Quality Education Forum (QEF) is an annual peer-reviewed journal published by the University of the West Indies, Office of the Board for Undergraduate Studies (OBUS).  With a view to enhancing the delivery of higher education, the QEF provides a platform for scholars, educational practitioners, administrators, and students within and outside of the Caribbean to disseminate knowledge and ideas related to teaching and learning, administration and other support systems and practices.  Submissions of academic papers and research reports, case studies and book reviews and the outcome of original research and rigorous analyses are invited.
 
The disarming effects of a defiant COVID-19 pandemic forced, educators to adopt physical distancing measures to prevent virus transmission. Educational institutions at all levels worldwide, embraced the unexpected challenge by transitioning from face-to-face delivery to various modes of online teaching and learning. Higher Education Institutions sought to adapt, improvise and creatively respond to the unique situation using a variety of distance learning technologies.
 
The twenty-fifth issue of The UWI Quality Education Forum invites academic essays that share the challenges, successes and general experience with remote /online teaching and learning within the context of the pandemic. Abstracts are invited which address, but are not limited to the following areas:
 
·         Lessons Learned from the Sudden Transition to Remote Teaching;
·         Remote Teaching and Assessment;
·         Online Education in the Caribbean: Challenges and Opportunities;
The Online Education Imperative and the Challenge of Limited Resources: Institutional and/or Cross-Institutional Perspectives;
·         Expanding Access to Higher Education through Online/Remote Teaching;
·         Best Practices for Online Delivery in a Pandemic;
·         Adapting Discipline- Specific Pedagogy to Online Mode.
 

The length of abstracts should not exceed 500 words. All abstracts must be submitted via email to qef.obus@uwimona.edu.jm in the form of an attached Microsoft Word document (.docx). The deadline for the submission of abstracts is August 31, 2020. No abstracts will be accepted subsequent to this date. Responses will be sent by September 18, 2020.
