Experiencing New Cultures

In today's competitive environment, learning other languages opens up new opportunities and provides insight in to different cultures and the world. The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures encourages and promotes the learning of world languages, opening up new markets to students who become bi- or multi-lingual. Five langauges are taught at The UWI, Mona - Spanish, French, Chinese, Portuguese and Japanese - which give students a wide perspective to choose from. Native speakers from Japan, France, Spain and China help the students to have a holistic experience.
Here Foreign Language Instructor, Ms. Tazuko Iijama, delivers a class in upgraded Language Laboratory, outfitted with new equipment provided by the Government of Japan.
