Promoting Child Rights through research

Dr. Aldrie Henry-Lee

Promoting the rights of children is an integral part of the work of researchers like Dr. Aldrie Henry-Lee who organises the annual Caribbean Child Research Conference to showcase research on child rights by adults and children. The conference provides a forum for children to present their research on the adherence of child rights in their countries. Distinguished adult researchers are also recognized for their contribution to research on child rights. The conference brings together children, child advocates, teachers, academicians, policy formulators and implementers, state and non-state actors to discuss the status of child rights, child welfare and child development in the Caribbean. The conference strengthens the network of researchers on children issues, and encourages research in areas that are often “under-researched.” Through the publication of peer-reviewed papers, the conference aims to inform the policy formulation and implementation processes. It is the only forum in the Caribbean in which voices of child and adult researchers receive equal recognition.
