CAMPUS TO CLOSE DUE TO HURRICANE THREAT

Owing to the threat posed by Hurricane Ivan, all classes, registration and other academic-related activities at the Mona Campus of The University of the West Indies will be suspended on Thursday and Friday, September 9 and 10, 2004, and until further notice.

Business activities will also be suspended. However, members of staff should report to work on Thursday to ensure that their departments are secured.

All Jamaican students who are resident on campus are required to vacate their rooms by 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, and return home. Special arrangements are being made for non-Jamaican students to remain on hall, but students who intend to remain must advise their Student Services Managers of their intention to do so, also by 10 a.m.

Members of staff who reside on campus are advised that the Assembly Hall will be available as an emergency shelter should the need arise.

Members of the University community should note that as a result of the hurricane threat, the Matriculation and Welcome Ceremony scheduled for Thursday, September 9, and the Welcome Service planned for Sunday, September 12, will be postponed until further notice.
