MONA CAMPUS TO CLOSE DUE TO HURRICANE THREAT

Owing to the threat posed by Hurricane Dennis, all classes at the Mona Campus of The University of the West Indies will be suspended for today except for examinations. The campus will close at 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday July 6, 2005 and will remain closed tomorrow in the event weather conditions do not permit re-opening.

Examinations L14A – Introduction to Language and Linguistics scheduled to be held at Moneague College and the Centre on Campus and E10B – Introduction to Prose Fiction and ME 22C Analytic Geometry and Trigonometry will take place today. There will be a subsequent advisory with respect to examinations to be held tomorrow July 7.

Members of staff should ensure that their departments are secured. Essential services and Emergency operations will remain open.

All Jamaican students who are resident on campus are advised to vacate their rooms by 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6 and return home. Special arrangements are being made for non-Jamaican students to remain on hall, but students who intend to remain must advise their Student Services Managers of their intention to do so, also by 8:00 p.m. today.

Members of staff who reside on campus are advised that the Assembly Hall will be available as an emergency shelter should the need arise.
