Classes at the UWI, Mona Campus will be suspended today, Monday, September 22, 2008 as of 4 pm. All administrative offices will also be closed. This is as a result of the lack of water supply to the campus from the National Water Commission caused by turbidity at the Hope Filter Plant as a result of the recent heavy rains. The UWI did not receive prior notice of this situation.

Staff and students, including those who reside on campus are being asked to conserve on the water available as the NWC is not at this time able to confirm when regular water supply will return as this is dependent on weather  conditions. The water available however is safe for drinking and regular consumption.

The UWI Mona Campus expresses apologies for any inconveniences which may arise. Efforts are being made by NWC to return the water supply to the Campus and its environs to normalcy as soon as possible.
