Vice Chancellor Emeritus of The University of the West Indies, Professor the Hon. Rex Nettleford will deliver the main address at the Banquet and Awards ceremony being hosted by the University Hospital League of Graduate Nurses on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Jamaica Grande Hotel in Ocho Rios, beginning at 7.00 p.m.

The Banquet is the one of the activities being held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the League over the period October 2-5.  The weekend programme will include an Official Opening Ceremony on Friday, October 3, beginning at 9.00 a.m. The Guest Speaker will be the Hon. Syringa Marshall –Burnett, Past President of the Senate and former Head of the School of Nursing at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.

The University Hospital League of Graduate Nurses was founded in 1958 by then matron, Miss Edith Felstead, and membership is open to all graduates of the University School of Nursing. The League aims to keep members in touch with their training school and to form a bond of union between past and present nurses.
Some 270 graduates of the School and their guests from both overseas and Jamaica are expected to attend the celebrations.
