Arabic Translation for UWI Drama Lecturer
Posted: August 31, 2009
Planning Process Drama, a book co-authored by UWI Senior Lecturer and Staff Tutor in Drama, Brian Heap, and Pamela Bowell, Research Fellow at Kingston University, United Kingdom, has recently been translated into Arabic.
Planning Process Drama was first published in 2001 and has since become required reading in Drama courses in Universities and Colleges of Education worldwide and is one of the prescribed texts for the Masters Degree in Educational Theatre at New York University.
The request to translate the book into Arabic came from a practitioner in Drama in Education Mr. Wasim Kurdi, who is also the Director of the Qattan Centre for Educational Research and Development, in Ramallah, Palestine. The translation was done by Issa Bishara and was funded by the A. M. Qattan Foundation, a UK registered charity which also supports and has offices at the Qattan Centre in Ramallah.
It is expected that the Arabic translation of Planning Process Drama will be made available to institutions of higher learning in countries throughout the Middle East. The book was previously translated into Finnish for use in Finland and the Baltic States.
