Excellence in Teaching Recognized Through UWI/ Guardian Life Teaching Award

In recognition of excellence in teaching and learning the University of the West Indies, Mona and Guardian Life Limited will host the fourth UWI/Guardian Life Premium Teaching Awards Ceremony. The Ceremony takes place on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 6 pm at Guardian Life located at 12 Trafalgar Road, Kingston 10.

The Awards Ceremony will recognize the 2010 nominees, Mr. Damion Crawford, Lecturer, Department of Management Studies, Dr. Aldrie Henry-Lee, Research Fellow, Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) and Dr. Livingston White, Lecturer, Caribbean Institute of Media and Communications (CARIMAC). The Award recognizes the outstanding teaching accomplishments of the University’s academic staff and seeks to develop structures and processes that help create an environment in which teaching excellence is valued and fostered.

These awards are alternated every other year with the Premium Open Lecture Series on learning and teaching in higher education. The guest speaker will be Dr. Vanessa Sheared, Dean, College of Education, California State University, Sacramento and also chief judge.“Giving Voice-The Art of Teaching and Learning” is the title of her presentation.
