The Meteorological Service has reported that the Hurricane Watch which has been in effect for the island has now been downgraded to a Tropical Storm Watch. With this new development the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) have decided to continue to monitor the weather system and will advise the public by noon, Thursday November 4, 2010 on whether schools will be closed.

Against that background, The University of the West Indies, Mona continues to monitor the situation and will issue a further advisory on Thursday afternoon.
