The Memorial Service for Professor Emeritus, Professor Alston Barrington ‘Barry’ Chevannes will take place on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 10 am in the University Chapel, Mona.  His body will lie in state from 9 am to 10 am and there will be musical tributes prior to the start of the service.

A condolence book has been opened for Professor Chevannes at the Undercroft of the Senate Building. Persons wishing to sign the book may do so from 10 am to 4 pm up to Friday, November 12. The book will be also be available for signing on the day of his funeral.

The Institute of Jamaica is organizing a Wake to take place at the Undercroft on Saturday, November 13, 2010, beginning at 6 pm.

The UWI, Mona will also host an evening of tributes and cultural items in the Oriental Gardens for Professor Chevannes. Persons interested in delivering tributes should contact Mr. Michael Holgate, Acting Head, Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts, in order that they may be scheduled on the programme.
