UWI, Mona and University of Reading, UK Stage Seminars in Science and Mathematics Education

One hundred and sixty three (163) teachers participated in the recently held Inspiring Teachers and Learners: Creativity in the Math and Science Classroom seminars held at UWI, Mona recently. Two workshops were organized by the Science, Mathematics and Information Technology (SMIT) Centre in the School of Education at UWI, Mona in partnership with the Institute of Education at University of Reading, UK.
The workshops were lead by Dr. Geoff Tennant and Ms. Deb Heighes, two educators from University of Reading. The workshops provided the teachers with simulation exercises demonstrating interactive and engaging strategies that can be utilized in the Science and Mathematics classroom at the secondary school level.
The workshops are designed to improve the teaching of and promote the use of creative teaching strategies in Mathematics and Science especially in limited resource classrooms.
