Dr. Eris D. Schoburgh Elected to the Board of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum for 2011-13

Dr. Eris D. Schoburgh, lecturer in public policy and public sector management in the Department of Government and coordinator of the Public Sector Management Unit has been elected to the Board of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) for 2011-13. The election took place at the CLGF Conference held in Wales, recently where Dr. Schoburgh presented a paper at the Research Symposium. Her election is in recognition of her advancement of local government research in the Caribbean and her knowledgeable contribution to conference deliberations in Cardiff and previously in the Bahamas during the 2009 conference.
Through her membership of CLGF Dr. Schoburgh connects the University of the West Indies, Mona with Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom and the University of Kwazulu Natal in South Africa that form the core of Associate Members that will function as thought leaders in the reform and reorganization of subnational government; through research provide policy relevant information; provide technical assistance to regional and national governments as well as inform future conference thematics among other activities.
The CLGF is an international network of more than 170 members located in 40 countries that includes Prime Ministers, Ministries of Local Government, Local Government Associations, Local Authorities, Universities and Civil Society Organisations.
The CLGF was founded in 1995 to promote local government and democracy throughout the Commonwealth.
