Caribbean Climate Modelling Experts Convene for Meeting at UWI, Mona

The Department of Physics at UWI, Mona will host the 4th Caribbean Climate Modeller’s Meeting on September 22-23, 2011. The Meeting will see all regional Modelling Centres being represented including the UWI Climate Studies Group at UWI, Mona (Jamaica), St. Augustine (Trinidad) and Cave Hill Barbados),  Instituto de Meteorlogia (INSMET-Cuba); Antom de Kom University (Suriname); Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre ( 5 Cs) (Belize); UAG (French West Indies). Also a part of the team of experts at the Meeting are Professor Anthony Chen (UWI, Mona) and Professor John Agard (UWI, St. Augustine) who are members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which, along with former United States Vice President, Al Gore Jr. was named winners of the Nobel Peace Prize for 2007.
 
The event is designed to coordinate science activities related to dynamically downscaling climate models to produce projections of future climate change for the region at the scale of the small islands of the Caribbean.
