Closure of the UWI Mona Campus

Owing to the threat posed by Tropical Storm Sandy, all activities at The University of the West Indies’ Mona Campus in Kingston, as well as the Western Jamaica Campus in Montego Bay will be suspended at 4.00 p.m. today, Tuesday, October 23, 2012. The University will remain closed tomorrow, Wednesday, October 24, 2012.
Special arrangements are being made for students who are resident on the Mona Campus to remain in hall. This includes all regional and international students. Students who wish to leave the Campus may do so, however, they must advise the Student Services Manager of the respective hall, of their departure.
Students resident on the Buccaneer Hall of residence have been relocated to the main hall of residence at the Western Jamaica Campus in Montego Bay.
Essential services and emergency operations will remain open. Mona Information Technology Services (MITS) will also remain open, however operations will not be guaranteed should the electricity service be disrupted.
The Health Centre will be closed and therefore persons with chronic illnesses are advised to secure necessary medication as a precautionary measure.
