The three year old Faculty of Law at the University of the West Indies’ Mona campus has scored second place in their first outing at the annual Caribbean Court of Justice Moot Court Competition in Trinidad and Tobago.
The first place slot went to the Hugh Wooding Law School of Trinidad and Tobago. The Mona team made up of Adrian Cotterell, Jahmar Clarke and Natalia Casado coached by Caprice MacFarlane defeated the likes of Norman Manley Law School, and the Eugene Dupuch Law School.
As second place winner to a law School, the Faculty of Law at Mona was the top performing academic institution in the region, beating Law faculties from other Universities from Guyana, Suriname, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica.
This year’s moot case dealt with banking and financial issues arising from the revised Treaty of Chaguaramas which provides the framework for the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
This marks the first ever award given to the newly established three year programme at the Faculty of law at UWI (Mona).
The 5th annual Caribbean Court of Justice Moot Court Competition was held on March 14th and 15th at the Caribbean Court of Justice’s headquarters in Trinidad and Tobago.
