Dr. Eris D Schoburg re-elected to Commonwealth Local Government Forum

UWI Mona Lecturer in the Department of Government, Dr. Eris D. Schoburgh has been re-elected to the Board of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) as a Member of the Research Advisory Group (RAG).
Re-election was made at the CLGF 7th Biannual Conference held in Kampala, Uganda, May 14-17, 2013.
Dr. Schoburgh will serve for the period 2013-15 and is expected to advance the concept and practice of developmental local government in the Caribbean through her research, teaching and public service activities.
Dr. Schoburgh presented a paper entitled: Local Economic Development (LED) – A Viable Route to Caribbean Prosperity: Is Local Government up to the Task? at the CLGF’s Research Symposium hosted by the Uganda Management Institute (UMI) May 14-15, 2013. Dr. Schoburgh also facilitated one of the UNDP’s consultations on the Role of Local Government in the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
The CLGF is officially recognised by the Commonwealth Heads of Government as an influential organisation with a mandate to promote and strengthen democratic local government across the Commonwealth and encourage the exchange of best practice through conferences, programmes and research. The RAG assists this process through dissemination of primary research findings and policy development.
