National Master Stuart James led the University of the West Indies Mona to compete at the Pan American Intercollegiate Chess Championships in Texas from December 27-30.
The event, which is in its 60th edition, is hosted by Texas Tech University and will host several College and University teams from North America and the Caribbean, including many Grand and International Masters.
James has been arguably one of the most successful local players in recent times, having won the National Junior Championship and Carifta Championship in 2012, and the 2013 President's Invitational.
Other team members include the experienced and active Miguel Asher, Laurence Davey and Andrew Anglin.
The trip was made possible by the Office of the Principal, Mona Campus.
