Inderia Adjudah Named All Island Administrative Professional Of The Year

Administrative Officer at The University of the West Indies, Mona Western Jamaica Campus (WJC), Ms.  Inderia Adjudah, has been named the All Island Administrative Professional of the Year by the Jamaica Association of Administrative Professionals (JAAP).  Ms. Adjudah was selected as the St. James parish representative to the National Competition which took place on Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Mandeville. 

The JAAP is the representative body for secretaries and administrative professionals in Jamaica. Its purpose is to elevate the standards of secretaries and administrative professionals in Jamaica and demands from its members a high standard of proficiency and integrity. Through professional association and exchange of ideas, techniques and customs, members of the JAAP have the unique opportunity not only to contribute to their own development but to also contribute to better international relations.

Inderia Adjudah joined the staff of The UWI, Mona in 2007. Her administrative skills came to the fore in 2008 as a member of the pioneering group of members of staff involved in the establishment of The UWI, Mona WJC.  In that capacity, she assisted in the development of administrative procedures and systems which transformed the delivery of service to stakeholders, increased enrolment to the campus and enhanced the student and staff experience. Her leadership in these activities assisted in positioning the campus as a major player and a key institution in the development of western Jamaica.

Ms. Adjudah has worked alongside the Campus Director in formalising the organisational structure for The UWI, Mona WJC. Her responsibilities include the oversight and identification of staff needs and the development of the required job descriptions for each position.  She also developed a human resource strategy which focuses on staff development and retention.

 Inderia serves on various committees of the Western Jamaica Campus. In addition, she is a member of the Technical Advisory Committee on the Sustainable Development Plan of the Westmoreland Parish Council. She serves on the Mobay City Run Committee which is a charitable organisation that aims to raise funds to support four tertiary educational institutions in Montego Bay.  

Ms. Adjudah holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from the Mona School of Business and Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Relations and Spanish both pursued at The University of the West Indies, Mona. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration in Higher Education Management from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom. Her research interests include: leadership and succession planning, organization and management of change and higher education policy for developing countries, particularly financing regimes.

Commenting on the appointment, WJC Director, Dr. Luz Longsworth stated “We are all aware of Ms. Adjudah's excellence in the performance of her role at UWI Mona, WJC and welcome this public acknowledgement of her abilities and service to this institution and Jamaica”.
