Positive COVID19 case on Mona Campus

Senate and Administrative Annex Buildings to close for 48 hours

Kingston, Jamaica. August 31, 2020: The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Mona Campus today August 31, 2020 received confirmation of a positive COVID19 case. The individual is a member of staff, who works in a specialised area with no contact with the public or other departments, and has not been on Campus since August 25, 2020.

As a result of the confirmed case, out of an abundance of caution, The UWI Mona will be closing the Senate and Administrative Annex buildings for 48 hours to facilitate deep cleaning and disinfecting. As we are a large campus, with offices and operations physically dispersed across 653 acres, a strategic decision has been made to allow safely situated Faculties/Offices to continue with their operations at this time.

Students, parents and other stakeholders who wish to conduct business with the Bursary, Student Administrative Services (SAS) or Registry may access the online services in the interim and will be able to re-engage with these offices on September 3, 2020.

We wish to assure all members of our Campus Community that all decisions taken have the health and safety of our staff and students at heart, and we implore all to follow the latest prevention guidelines that have been published widely.
