Ms. Deika Morrison appointed Honorary Research Fellow, Institute for Sustainable Development, The University of the West Indies

Ms. Deika Morrison has been appointed Honorary Research Fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Development (The ISD), The University of the West Indies.  The appointment is for an initial period of one year, from October 12, 2020 to October 11, 2021.

Ms. Morrison will strengthen the research capacity of the Institute. She comes to the Institute with a wealth of experience from the private and public sector.

She is a member of the Jamaica Institute of Environmental Professionals.

She holds a Masters degree in Engineering Science from Harvard University and also a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania; a Bachelors degrees in Applied Science, Environmental Systems, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania majoring in water and waste water systems as well as a Bachelor of Science in Economics, cum laude, from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Finance.

Ms. Morrison has worked as an Environmental Scientist in Florida; Chief Research Officer for a multinational financial institution; as well as Senator and State Minister of Finance and Planning in the Government of Jamaica. 

She is co-founder of Mdk Advisory and Consulting Ltd, a boutique advisory firm specializing in strategy, operational efficiency, marketing, communication and digital mobilization as well as diaspora engagement. She is also co-founder of Do Good Jamaica and Do Good International non-profit organizations focused on empowering young people, primarily through education, and building resilient communities through collaboration. 

She has held positions as board member for a number of organizations, including Chair of the Anti-Dumping and Subsidies Commission.  She has served as a member of the Economic Policy Committee of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica; the United Way Women’s Leadership Initiative; the Prime Ministerial Advisory Council and the Rotary Club of Kingston.  She is the current President of the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Club in Jamaica.

The Institute for Sustainable Development welcomes Ms. Morrison and wishes her a productive tenure.
