The UWI’s “Ten in Two” Austerity Plan

Executive management of The University of the West Indies (The UWI) emerged from a recent two-day retreat with a deeper focus on the University’s financial condition and commitment to regional economic growth.

Examining the first two years of The UWI’s performance within the context of its five-year Triple A strategic plan 2017-2022 themed “Revitalizing Caribbean Development”, management converged on the need for even greater financial efficiency.

It was a morning for inspiration, and the launch of the 8th Annual CB Group-UWI 5K, on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at The University’s Regional Headquarters in Kingston began fittingly with a testimony from a successful former recipient.

UWItv Channel | A proud moment

I wish to congratulate the UWItv team on moving to its own dedicated channel on the Flow Network, which now allows it to broadcast to 15 countries, 24 hours a day.

This is a remarkable accomplishment in its short life, having been launched just three years ago, and reflects the commitment made by the University to inform, educate, inspire and express the rich cultural and intellectual diversity of our Caribbean people.

I know that a tremendous amount of time and effort has been spent ensuring that this move was as seamless as possible, and I appreciate the dedication and attention to detail that the Managing Director, Ms. Janet Caroo and the staff of UWItv continue to display.
