The Institute of Caribbean Studies
The Institute of Caribbean Studies, UWI, Mona, will again offer the introductory non-degree course in Amharic, the main language of Ethiopia from from September 13 to December 2. Classes for new entrants will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. while classes for returning students will be on Mondays and Wednesdays. This is an introductory course which will expose students to the fundamentals of the written and spoken aspects of Amharic, including its alphabet. The course will be taught intensively and only those students who have mastered this fundamentals course will be able to advance to the next level. UWI students are being urged to register early and secure their place as spaces are limited to 15 individuals for the new intake. Applications from non-UWI students will also be considered.
