Burn To Learn
Janet Walters a graduate of the Jamaica School of Drama and English major at UWI Mona, is staging her play Burn to Learn from October 8-9 at the Philip Sherlock Centre at 7:00 p.m. each night.
Burn To Learn focuses on a group of people migrating from the rural area into the urban, where issues such as H.I.V. /A.I.D.S. violence, personality clashes, poverty and unemployment become evident. The main character, Paul, struggles with these issues among others as he tries to survive within the inner city community. Through his story the audience is taken through a series of emotional changes as one sees the past and present situations that engulf the group. Through Paul’s lifestyle others come to realise shortcomings within themselves and begin to take steps to correct them. Tickets are available at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts at a cost of $400 and $300 for students with I.D.
